Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (AVES) is hiring a Veterinary Technician for our Post Anesthetic Recovery Unit in Austin, TX. The role supports clinicians, restrains patients, prepares medications, and manages critical post-operative care in a fast-paced, 24/7 hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience as a veterinary technician.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Responsibilities

• Provide restraint of pets for examination and treatment by veterinarians. Prepare medications (injectable and oral) for outpatients and inpatients.
• Complete all necessary paperwork associated with surgical/in-house procedures.
• Calculate drug dosages.
• Log out and administer controlled substances.
• Pull supplies and equipment for minor procedures and set up in treatment area.
• Provide supportive therapy to patients in recovery and post-operatively.
• Administer medications and treatments per doctors' orders.
• Record daily treatment plans and post-operative notes in patient records.
• Teach clients to administer medications and subcutaneous fluids where needed.
• Maintain anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
