Job summary

MedVet in Austin, TX is seeking an Experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician for overnight shifts. You’ll join a fast-paced ER team handling critical cases, anesthesia, monitoring, and in-house labs.

We value teamwork, compassionate patient care, and clear client communication. Prior veterinary ER experience is preferred, and candidates must be able to adapt to irregular hours and changing cases.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced ER.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions and medications.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
