Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician in Austin, TX. Join our fast-paced ER team where you’ll assist DVMs, monitor anesthesia, perform lab work, and provide exceptional patient and client care.

We value teamwork, leadership and compassion as core pillars. State-registered technicians are preferred, with prior emergency experience benefiting the team, and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations for drugs, CRIs and unit conversions.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions and medications.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
