Job summary

DHR Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the BV PACU/Post Op unit in Brownsville, TX. This full-time day shift role requires hospital experience, English proficiency, and readiness to train as a charge nurse.

The candidate must hold a Texas RN license, current BLS, and obtain ACLS/PALS within six months of hire. NRP is required for Women’s Hospital employees. Cross-training and potential preceptorship after two years are encouraged.

Qualifications

• RN license in the State of Texas is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• ACLS and PALS must be obtained within six months of hire.
• NRP certification within six months for Women’s Hospital employees.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.
• Hospital experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in English – verbal and written and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs family-centered, evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process.
• Implements physician’s orders safely and accurately.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Maintains detailed and accurate records of nursing actions.
• Provides education and emotional support to patients and families.
• Makes rounds and prioritizes patient needs.
• Administers medications and therapies within safe nursing practice.
