Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking a Hospital PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a hospital-based perioperative team in Great Falls, MT. This on-site, full-time role focuses on post-anesthesia care in a fast-paced setting with emphasis on patient safety and teamwork.

Key responsibilities include pre-op preparation, Phase I recovery, wound and line management, pain control, and discharge planning, with call rotation and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Licensure: Active, unrestricted RN licensure in Montana (or compact/endorsement eligibility).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required upon hire.
• Experience: 2–4 years in acute Medical/Surgical or Critical Care nursing.
• Preferred: ICU/CCU background is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative Preparation: assess, admit, and optimize patients for elective/outpatient procedures.
• Phase I Recovery: monitor and stabilize patients waking from anesthesia; manage airway and hemodynamics; neuro checks.
• Advanced Visual & Device Care: monitor patients with chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, short-term ventilator needs.
• Wound & Line Management: surveil dressings, drains, incisions to prevent complications.
• Pain control: titrate IV meds and manage PANV; maintain normothermia.
• Observation Unit Care: care for observation patients post-ED/admission.
• Collaborative Leadership: coordinate with Providers, Anesthesia, Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses; guide LPNs/CNAs.
• Discharge & Transfer: use Aldrete score to clear for home or hand off to inpatient units.
