Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing to lead a unit/department, collaborating with the Director of Nursing to oversee nursing and support staff in delivering holistic, patient-centered care.

You will participate in budget and staffing decisions, drive quality and safety initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting professional development and Magnet pathway goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• 1-2 years leadership and management experience preferred.
• RN licensure in the District of Columbia required.
• CPR certification within 90 days required.
• EFM certification may be required for Perinatal nurses within 12 months from hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops unit/department goals, policies, and procedures and ensures compliance with policies and standards.
• Maintains relationships across disciplines to ensure efficient, quality patient care.
• Sets performance expectations, evaluates, and conducts performance planning and coaching.
• Completes annual performance reviews for unit/department staff.
• Coordinates with Nursing leadership to ensure staffing and budget management.
• Leads quality and patient safety initiatives and ensures regulatory compliance.
