Job summary

Oregon Freeze Dry is seeking a Packaging Operator to join our Production team on a rotating 12-hour day shift. You will prepare, package, and ensure high-quality products reach customers worldwide while collaborating with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of machine-based manufacturing experience, strong teamwork, and a solid ability to read SOPs and document results.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in machine-based manufacturing operations with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to understand how machines work and recognize when something isn’t functioning properly.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Willingness to learn new processes, adjust to changes, and take on varied tasks as needed.
• Understanding of workplace safety practices and ability to follow procedures to prevent accidents.
• Basic computer proficiency; including experience with data entry, digital forms, or manufacturing software systems.
• Solid mathematical skills, with the ability to perform basic calculations and understand measurements, weights, and unit conversions.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, SOPs and technical documents with accuracy.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks effectively and staying organized under pressure.
• While a standard shift will generally be assigned, this role requires the flexibility to support operations across multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Ability to take the lead on assigned processes, coordinate with team members, and manage workflows.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Perform machine changeovers, adjustments, and minor troubleshooting as needed.
• Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of machines according to SOPs.
• Maintain production flow and report equipment or process issues promptly.
• Accurately complete production records and quality checks in real-time; perform in-process quality checks and document results.
• Report non-conformances or quality concerns immediately.
• Complete deviation reports, downtime logs, and equipment cleaning records accurately.
• Identify and correct documentation errors or elevate them to supervisors as needed.
• Ensure all documentation complies with company policies, GMP, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in root cause investigations and support corrective actions.
• Recommend process improvements and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Work directly with the Maintenance team to report equipment concerns, assist in troubleshooting, and coordinate timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
• In the absence of incumbent the direct supervisor will act as designee.
• Regular and reliable attendance on a full-time basis.
• Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflect positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
