Job summary

New Belgium Brewing Company is seeking a night-shift packaging operator in Asheville, NC to run high-speed packaging lines from 6pm to 6am. A $6.00 shift differential applies during these hours, in addition to the base wage.

Responsibilities include line start-up/shutdown, troubleshooting, quality checks, material handling with forklifts, and adherence to SOPs. Strong mechanical and basic computer skills are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with high-speed production equipment preferred.
  • Solid mechanical skills and basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to read reports, instructions and procedures.

  • Operates, starts up and shuts down packaging lines as required.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and makes adjustments for performance.
  • Supports quality assurance through sampling and testing.
  • Loads/unloads materials and finished product using forklift.
  • Maintains clean and safe work environment.
  • Follows SOPs and checklists; participates in training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The position is responsible for operating and maintaining high-speed packaging lines. This will be a night shift position with the working hours of 6pm-6am. There is an additional $6.00 shift differential attached to the base wage between the hours of 6pm-6am.

Essential Duties:
  • Conducts machine start-up, operation, and shutdown relevant to equipment area
  • Conducts initial troubleshooting of equipment and production issues and makes appropriate adjustment as needed
  • Engages in quality assurance activities (corrective action, sensory evaluation, sampling, testing, etc.)
  • Loads/unloads material and finished product, including driving fork lifts
  • Ensures clean work environment
  • Adheres to SOG's (Standard Operating Guidelines) and checklists
  • Trains new personnel and other team members when needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Previous experience with high-speed production equipment desired
  • Solid mechanical skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read reports, instructions, and procedures
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. overhead and 44 lbs. carried 10 feet.
  • Ability to push/pull weights up to 76 lbs. across 100 feet, and maintain the grip strength required to carry objects including cases and empty kegs (31.5 lbs.).
  • Must also show fine motor dexterity.
  • Ability to demonstrate their ability to climb, stoop, crawl, twist, squat and reach overhead.
  • The position requires frequent, constant standing and walking
Working Conditions:

Production Areas Wage information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is Bell's and New Belgium's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, or other position-related reasons. Starting Wage Range: $22.50
