Job summary

Encova Insurance in Wisconsin seeks a Production Underwriter for Package Lines, covering agencies in Madison or Milwaukee. The role involves visiting agencies to develop new and existing relationships, and will report to a Regional Vice President, Commercial Lines.

The full salary range is $97,153 to $194,990 annually, plus bonus and benefits; the company may hire at senior or non-senior level within the full range.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive commercial lines underwriting experience in package lines and/or worker’s compensation in the Property and Casualty insurance market strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, demonstrated significant underwriting experience may substitute.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting, pricing and coverage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective sales/marketing and agency relationship techniques including the ability to partner with independent insurance agents.
• Preference for CPCU and/or ARM designation(s).
• Strong writing skills with emphasis on marketing.
• Creative and entrepreneurial in sales/marketing initiatives.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight timelines.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between Encova and agency force; develop and maintain agency relationships.
• Visit agencies regularly to build relationships with leadership and production staff.
• Assess risks, determine acceptability, and write profitable new business and renewals.
• Prepare and participate in proposals; negotiate terms and conditions.
• Ensure proper policy issuance and policy construction.
• Lead meetings and deliver training on products and underwriting changes.
