Job summary

Ascension Health invites applications for a General Surgery Physician Assistant in Milwaukee, WI. The role requires 1.0 FTE with a schedule of 36 patient contact hours and call coverage as needed.

You will work with a team of four physician providers and one APP, performing histories, exams, and a range of diagnostic procedures while documenting treatment plans and providing patient education within an EPIC environment.

Qualifications

• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board.
• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program; master's degree preferred.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take comprehensive patient health histories and perform physical assessments.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures to guide clinical decisions.
• Develop and document direct treatment plans for surgical and specialty conditions.
• Provide counseling and health education to patients and caregivers.
• Collaborate with a team of 4 physicians and 1 APP fellow to coordinate care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM â 5:00 PM, with call coverage on a as-needed basis

• Team Structure: Work closely alongside a supportive team of 4 physician providers and 1 fellow APP.

• Conduct comprehensive patient health histories, physical assessments, and preventative screenings.

• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures to guide effective clinical decision-making.

• Provide, manage, and thoroughly document direct treatment plans for a wide variety of surgical and specialty conditions.

• Deliver compassionate counseling and health education to patients and family caregivers regarding treatment options, care management, and community support resources

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):

• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Preferred Credential(s):

• Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience preferred.
