Job summary

POWERX in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a P&C Test Engineer II to execute commissioning and testing scopes under supervision. You will grow from component-level tasks toward system-level understanding, focusing on protection testing and safe work execution.

This role serves as a bridge to Senior level, encouraging a questioning attitude, expanding knowledge of relay platforms (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens) and POWERX standards while supporting projects across distribution and transmission substations up to

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year in high-voltage Protection & Control testing and commissioning.
• Familiar with relay platforms such as SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in relevant field; OSHA 30 preferred.
• Ability to read drawings and perform test documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

• Execute relay protection testing tasks using listed platforms under oversight.
• Perform CT/VT testing, breaker control testing, and verification of schemes.
• Read one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams with confidence.
• Document results, redlines, and daily reports for turnover packages.
• Support field commissioning across distribution and transmission substations up to 765kV.
• Maintain safety standards and participate in pre/post job reviews.
