Job summary

Ain Dah Yung Center in Saint Paul, MN seeks an Overnight Youth Care Worker to provide overnight supervision, basic care, and crisis support for residents. You will perform bed checks, ensure safety, and respond to emergencies while maintaining a calm, respectful environment.

Responsibilities include documentation, communication with staff, and helping morning routines for school, with emphasis on trauma-informed care and cultural sensitivity to support American Indian youth and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with youth, families, shelters, or related settings preferred.
• Ability to work awake overnight hours, Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Ability to respond calmly to crisis situations, conflict, and resident needs.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Pass required background checks and meet agency/licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and overnight support to shelter residents.
• Monitor residents to ensure they are safely in their rooms and following shelter expectations.
• Complete required overnight bed checks and documentation.
• Monitor resident health, safety, hygiene, and emotional status.
• Respond promptly to resident needs or emergencies during overnight shift.
• Support with crisis intervention and counseling as needed.
• Wake residents for school or other morning responsibilities.
• Complete shift notes, logs, and other required forms.
