Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, professional, non-judgmental service to program participants.

Job description

• Provide compassionate, professional, non-judgmental service to program participants
• Explain program rules and facilitate compliance
• Coordinate meals, bed/sleeping assignments, showers, laundry, and daily routines
• Provide awake overnight shift coverage from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM and maintain ground security
• Conduct hourly safety and security checks
• De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance
• Maintain daily reports, shift logs, observation logs, and incident reports
• Perform housekeeping, maintenance, sanitation, and dorm preparation tasks
• Respond to participant questions and concerns
• Perform clerical duties including answering the telephone, recording messages, and filing
• Coordinate, inventory, store, and distribute participant property
• Post removal notices for unattended belongings and bicycles
• Maintain linen documentation and inventory control
• Oversee restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies
• Communicate concerns, infractions, workflow problems, and resource needs to management
• Communicate with program staff, Shelter Supervisor, service providers, and county/state/city representatives
• Assist with orientation and training of new employees
• Maintain knowledge of fire, safety, health, ethical, confidentiality, and program standards
• Process, assign, and distribute participant mail
• Support participant development plans and notify staff of pertinent issues
• Role model positive behavior and pursue ongoing self-development
• Attend staff meetings and assigned training

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions
• Ability to provide services to participants without ethnic or social prejudices
• General knowledge of issues and challenges unique to homelessness, substance abuse, young adults, minorities, and persons with disabilities
• Ability to utilize a range of interventions for participants with varying needs and levels of functioning
• Flexibility to work irregular hours
• Ability to function as a team member
• Computer skills
• CPR and First Aid training within ninety (90) days of employment, with re-certification as necessary
• Annual T.B. testing
• Must undergo a criminal background check
• A valid Nevada driver’s license is preferred
