Job summary

You will supervise staffing, apply disciplinary actions, and uphold Meijer standards across departments. You will be responsible for hiring processes, development of staff, and ensuring safety and performance goals are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Serves as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintains store appearance with emphasis on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning and identifies development needs for team members.
• Documenting and applying disciplinary actions and recommendations on discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Ensures team is trained and communications about Meijer Friendly Initiatives are kept up.
• Maintains safety standards and reliable attendance; performs other duties as assigned.
