Job summary

Safeway in Bend, OR is seeking a Person In Charge (PIC) to lead store operations in the absence of the Store Manager. The PIC ensures customer service excellence, oversees staff, and handles cashier duties and daily store tasks.

Responsibilities include supervising the sales floor, assisting customers, counting tills, and supporting close-of-day procedures. Prior experience in retail and knowledge of store operations are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.

• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service per employer policy on the sales floor and in the store.
• Responsible for handling emergencies, customer complaints, and supervising staff.
• Maintains familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Supervises the sales floor to monitor service and replenishment of products.
• Replaces stock in displays around the checkout area.
• Assists in keeping the store clean and safe.
• Assists other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
• Performs basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operates the cash register to total customers' final bill and receive payment.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out when needed.
