Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring an Overnight Stock Assistant Manager for the Grocery department. The role focuses on leading the night stock crew, unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, and setting up the store for the next day.

You will directly impact product availability and store appearance while ensuring efficient operations during overnight hours. You will supervise the overnight team, manage scheduling and training, and coordinate with other managers on orders, inventory, and vendor deliveries.

Qualifications

• Lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced overnight retail environment.
• Solve practical problems and make sound decisions with a variety of variables.
• Use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with employees, vendors, and leadership.
• Work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities throughout a shift.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; three to five years of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold department standards for customer service, cleanliness, sanitation, team relations, and overall profitability.
• Supervise and direct the overnight stock crew, assign duties, monitor productivity, and hold individual check-ins with crew members.
• Oversee ordering from the warehouse including pre-orders for grocery, non-foods, and supplies, and coordinate work with assistant managers.
• Review and maintain the RPM system, including inventory setup, understock and backstock management, trigger settings, and order review.
• Unload trucks, break down pallets, sort items by aisle, and check in vendor deliveries piece by piece.
• Supervise drop shipments, direct store deliveries, and oversee produce and frozen food truck unloading.
