Job summary

Antech Diagnostics in Irving, TX is seeking a Specimen Processor to receive, prepare and process samples for laboratory analyses. The role requires attention to detail, data entry, and strong English communication; the candidate will work a night shift with five days per week.

The target pay is $18.41 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities include processing requisitions, labeling and tracking specimens, and ensuring timely Turn Around Times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with science related classes.
• 0-1 years related work experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues.
• Communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions.

Responsibilities

• Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analyses.
• Accurately process standard requisitions per approved procedures at expected rates.
• Removes specimens from transport bags, enter patient data, label samples and aliquot as needed for multiple testing.
• Keep inventory of samples after testing by scanning into storage racks; search lab for samples not scanned.
• Sort samples for distribution throughout the lab (Coggins, cytology, etc.).
• Scan tubes into storage racks and enter specimen data into database to verify information.
• Accession various sample types for processing.
• Check all trash containers within Specimen Processing department.
• Assists other lab personnel with specimen storage.
• Ensure Turn Around Times (TATs) are met.
• Follow SOPs, maintain clean work area and restock supplies.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks.
