Job summary

Upper Valley Haven in White River Junction, VT is seeking compassionate Shelter Associates for the Per Diem Third Shift to help maintain safe, welcoming shelter environments and respond to guest needs overnight.

You will build rapport with guests, coordinate with staff, and complete shift notes and safety rounds while balancing empathy with accountability. This role is ideal for reliable, team-oriented individuals who can work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain; training available.

Responsibilities

• Build positive and supportive relationships with shelter guests.
• Welcome new guests and orient them to shelter expectations and policies.
• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming shelter spaces.
• Assist with housekeeping, laundry, room preparation, and daily cleaning tasks.
• Conduct overnight safety rounds and respond to crises calmly.
• Complete shift notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Communicate important information to supervisors and coworkers and contact emergency services when needed.
• Collaborate with coordinators, shelter staff, managers, and others serving guests.
• Support special program activities and events.
• Attend team meetings and supervision.
