Samaritan Daytop Village, Inc. is seeking an Overnight Residential Aide to support residents at our Jamaica, Queens facility.

The role involves intake assistance, monitoring safety, enforcing policies, and maintaining a secure, respectful living environment while remaining calm in challenging situations. Responsibilities include onboarding new residents, documenting via DHS CARES, ensuring rounds for safety, coordinating with case managers, and upholding confidentiality and trauma-informed care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience with individuals facing homelessness or complex needs preferred.
• Familiarity with shelter operations or supportive housing beneficial.
• Basic computer literacy; ability to learn internal databases like DHS CARES.

Responsibilities

• Welcome residents and provide orientation to shelter policies and routines.
• Assist with client check-ins, discharges, and documentation in DHS CARES.
• Monitor safety through rounds and informal engagement.
• Enforce facility rules while maintaining respectful environment.
• Respond to incidents and complete timely reports.
• Coordinate with case managers to connect residents with services.
• Maintain cleanliness and security of resident rooms and belongings.
• Communicate maintenance needs to supervisors and ensure orderly spaces.
• Build rapport with residents and offer guidance during daily interactions.
• Uphold confidentiality and trauma-informed care standards.
