Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Residential Aide for our Homeless Shelter in Jamaica, Queens. You will support daily operations, monitor safety, and participate in shift changes and staff meetings to ensure a stable environment for clients.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and at least one year in social services; bilingual Spanish preferred. The position is full-time, non-exempt with hourly pay between $17.78 and $26.68, with comprehensive benefits.

• Ability to interact with diverse client populations.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures clients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule and tracks attendance.
• Monitors participation in program events and activities.
• Conducts routine room/bed and facility checks for safety and compliance.
• Maintains accurate documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Oversees overnight shifts, conducts headcounts and coordinates nighttime activities.
