Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking Positive Support Specialists to join our Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) teams. You will support individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and mental health needs in home and community settings, focusing on safety, independence, and meaningful activities.

Qualifications include high school diploma (or higher), 1–2 years in relevant work, driver’s license, background check, and ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with a variety of individuals.
• Ability to stand, squat, bend or walk for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of local community resources is a plus.
• Must be cleared by a BCA background study and have a valid driver's license; MVR required.
• Minimum education is a high school diploma; degree in a relevant field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to be more independent with life skills and navigate the community.
• Advocate for individuals regarding rights, medical care, and community participation.
• Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping each shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely; training for PBIS and restraints will be provided.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
