Job summary

AlexRenew is seeking an Operations Team Lead for the overnight shift in Alexandria, VA. The role combines supervision and hands-on process control from 9:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., guiding a skilled staff while ensuring safe, compliant wastewater operations.

You will mentor staff, monitor performance, and coordinate with maintenance; expect routine testing, data review, and process improvements to boost plant reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of AlexRenew operations experience at the wastewater plant.
• Current Operations Technician II or higher role required.
• Team Lead program completion within 1 year of hire required.
• Virginia Wastewater Works Class 1 or 2 license required.
• ABC Professional Operator Class II or obtain within 1 year.
• Knowledge of AlexRenew plant operations including offsite pump stations.
• Ability to read technical prints, drawings and process schematics.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Leadership, communication and computer skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and ensure adherence to policies and safety.
• Plan and schedule assignments; mentor and evaluate staff.
• Conduct rounds; monitor all liquid and solids processes.
• Operate equipment—startup/shutdown; respond to maintenance events.
• Perform routine quality control testing and analyze results.
• Maintain records and coordinate with maintenance; support special projects.
