The role requires a strong background in wastewater operations, SCADA, and safety practices, with a Bachelor's degree and a Virginia wastewater license or ability to obtain within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a public wastewater utility.
• Virginia Wastewater Works Operator Class 1 License required or must be obtain within one year.
• Experience with SCADA, maintenance systems, regulatory records and safety practices.
• Strong ability to interpret trends, assess risk, and communicate urgent issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily staffing, shift coverage and handoffs with supervisors.
• Monitor plant processes and collection systems via SCADA and reports.
• Supervise staff, support performance evaluations and training plans.
• Develop operating schedules, procedures and shift communication.
• Review logs, records and enforcement of permits; escalate issues as needed.
• Assist in budgeting and inventory for chemicals and supplies.
