Mental Health Association of Nassau County is seeking an Overnight Peer Specialist to provide supportive companionship and peer-driven support to guests in a residential setting. The role emphasizes hope, recovery and resilience, drawing on lived experience and WRAP-informed practices.

The Overnight Peer Specialist will engage guests, model recovery-focused beliefs, and connect individuals to tools and resources to reduce crises.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months to one year current or recent employment in delivering direct services to mental health consumers preferred.
• Three months experience in self-help or peer-directed services and/or peer support groups preferred.
• WRAP training completion preferred.
• NYCPS-P Certification preferred.

Aufgaben

• Provide supportive companionship for guests during their visit (interview, intake, arrival, stay and departure).
• Share personal recovery to encourage hope, wellness, personal growth and recovery.
• Model and support the belief that individuals can and will do better.
• Utilize engagement skills to connect, using shared insights to encourage problem solving and use of tools to lessen or alleviate crises.
• Non-judgmental active listening designed to meet individuals where they are at.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment; some cleaning may be involved.
• Provide telephone support to peers through the Consumer Phone Link Program as needed.
• Facilitate self-help, support groups.
• Keep accurate and timely records.
• Work cooperatively with respite team.
• Maintain client confidentiality.
