Job summary

University of Florida’s Marston Science Library in Gainesville seeks an Overnight Access Services Assistant to supervise the 24-hour service desk, assist patrons, and coordinate overnight staff.

The role includes training OPS and students, ensuring security, and coordinating with morning staff. Regular night shifts and occasional intersession hours apply. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with library experience.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent with 3 years library/relevant experience OR an Associate's degree with 1 year experience.
• Excellent reliability and ability to manage schedules and meet deadlines.
• Strong customer service and professional communication skills.
• Ability to supervise and direct work of others; schedule coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the MSL Service Desk and circulation supervision during overnight shifts.
• Train and supervise overnight OPS and student staff; arrange coverage during absences.
• Assist patrons with library tools, research resources, and technology support.
• Coordinate shift changes and communicate building security/status to staff.
• Monitor building security and respond to patron emergencies and inquiries.
• Provide reference and guidance for circulation, holdings, and Interlibrary Loan questions.
• Support building operations and IT tasks such as printers, scanners, and workstations.
