Job summary

University of Florida in Gainesville is seeking a SASC Collections Services Student Assistant to support library operations. You will pull and re-shelve circulating materials, manage shelving accuracy by LC classifications, and assist with the Google Books project under supervision.

Training on library software and classification systems is provided during onboarding; you will gain hands-on experience with Dewey and Library of Congress layouts, and contribute to 10-hour weekly shifts starting

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a student, half time or more, at the University of Florida.
• Ability to lift 40-pound boxes and work from ladders.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Able to manage multiple ongoing projects and report to supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Accurately page and re-shelve circulating materials by Library of Congress classification.
• Move sections, relabel, dust, and block shelves to maintain organization.
• Take statistics and record information to support operations.
• Assist with pulling materials for the Google Books project and report discrepancies.
• Maintain knowledge of LC and Dewey systems and UF policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including general library tasks.
