Family Promise of Spokane is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Family Advocate to join our shelter team. The overnight shift (10pm–6am) supports families in crisis, coordinates shelter operations, and guides volunteers. A background with families experiencing homelessness is preferred, and HMIS data entry is part of the role.

The position offers weekend and holiday hours with a strong emphasis on empathy, collaboration, and accountability in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifikationen

• At least one year of experience working with families or individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or crisis—paid or volunteer.
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred but not required, or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, remain calm under pressure, problem-solving and sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.
• Time management, ability to follow-through with tasks consistently.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively with a team, with emotional intelligence.
• Ability to engage diverse populations with empathy, dignity, and respect.
• Comfortable using Google Suite, Slack, and basic data entry systems. HMIS experience a plus.
• Driving is a condition of employment; may need to drive families to appointments.
• English language proficiency and ability to clearly document case notes.

Aufgaben

• Create a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for guest families, volunteers, and partners.
• Support families in crisis with compassionate listening, guidance to access services and case management.
• Ensure smooth shelter operations: manage meals, cleaning, laundry, and inventory.
• Lead by example by supporting volunteers and team to ensure teamwork and protocols.
• Document and communicate: maintain guest interactions records; use Slack and Google Suite.
• Promote safety and stability; monitor activities and respond calmly in emergencies.
• Engage volunteers: train groups and foster collaboration and gratitude.
• HMIS: data entry – willing to learn the Homeless Management Information System.
