Job summary

Family Promise of Spokane is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Family Advocate to join our shelter team. The Overnight shift from 10pm to 6am supports guest families, coordinates meals, cleaning, inventory, and case management coordination using HMIS.

Qualifications

At least one year of experience working with families or individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
Strong communication, empathy, and ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with Google Suite, Slack, and basic data entry; HMIS experience is a plus.
Driving may be required to accompany families to appointments.

Responsibilities

Create a welcoming environment for guest families, volunteers, and partners.
Offer compassionate listening, emotional support, and guidance to access services.
Manage daily shelter tasks: meals, cleaning, laundry, and inventory.
Support and guide volunteers and staff to ensure teamwork and protocol adherence.
Document guest interactions and incidents; communicate via internal tools such as Slack and Google Suite.
Monitor safety protocols and respond calmly in emergencies.
Engage volunteers and provide training; HMIS data entry when needed.
