Job summary

Family Promise of Spokane welcomes a compassionate Full-Time Family Advocate to join our shelter team. You will provide supportive case management, help families access services, and maintain a safe, welcoming space for guests and volunteers.

This 32–40 hour/week role requires strong communication, empathy, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Driving may be required; benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience with families or individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis is required or valued.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred but not required or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, calm under pressure, problem-solving, sound judgment in fast-paced environments, time management, and ability to work independently and with a team.
• Comfort using Google Suite, Slack, and basic data entry systems.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment for guest families, volunteers, and partners.
• Support families in crisis with compassionate listening, guidance, and access to services and case management.
• Manage daily shelter operations: meals, cleaning, laundry, inventory, ensuring routines are followed.
• Lead by example by supporting and guiding volunteers and teammates.
• Document and communicate accurately with internal tools like Slack and Google Suite.
• Promote safety and stability and respond calmly in emergencies.
• Engage volunteers by welcoming and training groups to foster collaboration and shared purpose.
