Job summary

Rarebreed Veterinary Partners is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Technician for our Veterinary Emergency Center of Canton in the Hartford, CT area. You will provide nursing care, support hospitalized and emergency patients, and assist clinicians with surgeries and diagnostics.

Requirements include hands-on veterinary technician experience, a high school diploma, and strong communication in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience as a veterinary technician is required (not just assistant experience).
• Ability to perform core technical skills including blood draws, catheter placement, patient monitoring, and surgical assistance.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Must be a team player with compassion for pets and their people.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care and technical support to hospitalized and emergency patients.
• Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist veterinarians during surgical and medical procedures.
• Assist with diagnostics including bloodwork, radiographs, and laboratory testing.
• Monitor patient vitals, maintain accurate treatment records, and communicate patient updates to the veterinary team.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Support patient restraint and handling while ensuring a low-stress experience for pets.
• Maintain a clean, organized treatment area and assist with stocking medical supplies.
• Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care.
