Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada seeks a Diversion & Intake Specialist for the Nevada Cares Campus in Reno. This full-time overnight 4x10 shift provides intake assessments, triage, and coordination of housing resources for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The role requires HC HMIS data entry, trauma-informed approaches, and collaboration with partners; CPR/First Aid certification is required within 90 days. Wage details follow Nevada standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education preferred.
• Three years in social services preferred; homeless population experience valued.
• CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment.
• HMIS knowledge desired; ability to document and track data.
• Ability to work irregular hours and function as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate intake assessments using Coordinated Entry to determine eligibility.
• Provide triage, diversion, and assessment services for shelter guests.
• Coordinate housing options and connections to services with partners.
• Enter participant information into HMIS and manage documentation.
• Orient participants to shelter policies and rights; ensure compliance with HMIS standards.
• Attend trainings and maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid).
