Job summary

VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada is seeking a Support Staff member for a 3:00 PM–11:00 PM swing shift at the Nevada Cares Campus in Reno. You will support residents with daily needs, enforce rules, coordinate meals and activities, and help maintain safety and order in a compassionate environment.

The role requires teamwork, crisis de-escalation, and strong communication. A background in shelter services, flexibility, and the ability to work irregular hours are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and ensure adherence.
• Coordinate meals, sleeping assignments, showers, and laundry.
• Provide awake shift coverage and conduct safety checks.
• De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain daily reports for statistical information.
• Perform housekeeping and maintenance to meet health standards.
• Respond to participant questions and concerns.
• Perform clerical duties on shift (calls, messages, filing).
• Maintain clear routine communication with participants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
