Job summary

Heart Havens seeks a Direct Support Professional to empower adults with developmental disabilities on an overnight shift (Friday–Saturday, 10 PM–8 AM) in Virginia. You will help residents with daily living, encourage community engagement, and support growth within a compassionate team.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of DSP experience, and a Virginia driver’s license. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 6 months direct support experience required.
• 1 year direct support experience in a DD setting preferred or certs with 2 years in DD.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to residents per ISP and support plans.
• Supervises residents and ensures safety; never leaves resident alone.
• Supports activities of daily living to needed level.
• Encourages social engagement and community participation.
• Administers medications per procedures and 6 Rights.
• Completes timely daily documentation (ISP notes, T-Logs).
• Maintains confidentiality and accurate records.
• Responds to changing health conditions with prompt documentation.
• Notifies leadership of incidents and medical updates.
• Follows meal menus and dietary restrictions.
• Participates in monthly resident meetings and activity calendars.
• Adheres to budgetary guidelines; assists with purchases with receipts.
• Maintains staff schedule and provides coverage as needed.
• Attends monthly staff meetings and emergency drills.
• Follows Heart Havens policies and procedures; upholds rights and dignity.
