Job summary

Grafton Integrated Health Network is hiring a Direct Support Professional - Overnight Residential Assistant in Winchester, VA. The role supports children in a residential setting, assisting with bedtime routines, safety checks, and daily care under supervision.

You will document progress, use behavior strategies, and collaborate with the treatment team to promote positive outcomes. Starting pay ranges from $18.15 to $22 per hour, with potential shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Must be 19 years of age
• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• High school diploma or GED with no experience working with children
• High school diploma or GED with 6 months experience working with children
• Associate’s degree and 3 months experience working with children
• Bachelor’s degree in human services
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Per VA DBHDS guidelines, some roles require direct supervision by a qualified staff

Responsibilities

• Assist with bedtime routines and morning care including hygiene, dressing and breakfast
• Conduct 15-minute health and safety checks after client goes to bed
• Provide supervision, safety, and crisis management for clients
• Document client behavior and participation in programming
• Adhere to scheduled activities and model positive behavior
• Utilize behavioral strategies to minimize crises and maximize success
• Communicate with treatment team for continuity of care
• Demonstrate exemplary customer service with guardians and visitors
• Promote a clean and safe residence/classroom environment
• Assist with meals, transportation, and basic finances as applicable
