Job summary

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a Crisis Call Specialist for the Maine Crisis Line on an overnight schedule. This full-time role involves handling crisis calls, assessing risk, and coordinating with state crisis resources.

You will receive MHRT-CSP certification training and work remotely within Maine. The ideal candidate has crisis/mental health experience, strong communication, and a calm, compassionate approach to callers in distress.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree required.
• A year or more of crisis or mental health related experience preferred.
• Must earn MHRT-CSP certification within 30 days of employment; onsite training provided.
• Strong verbal communication skills; ability to document clearly during calls.
• Overnight schedule: 8:30pm–7:00am, Saturday–Tuesday.
• Must pass criminal background, CPS check, and sex offender checks.

Responsibilities

• Assess callers' problems and psychosocial stressors.
• Complete risk assessments to ensure safety during crises.
• Use systems to monitor and track callers and outcomes.
• Collaborate with Crisis Response Services across eight Maine districts.
• Provide remote crisis support and crisis counseling when needed.
