Job summary

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to support specimen receiving, processing and patient registration on-site in St. Petersburg, FL. You will operate the LIS, perform centrifugation, labeling and aliquoting, and ensure timely delivery to test sites.

The role requires attention to regulatory standards, strong customer service, and flexibility for overnight shifts. Prior phlebotomy exposure is preferred, with opportunities to train staff and support department

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Two years of laboratory experience or patient care experience required.
• Phlebotomy certification, training, or experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient registration support and handles third party reimbursement requirements and regulations.
• Maintains department supplies and processes supply orders.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Operates hospital information systems including downtime procedures, specimen processing, and scheduling.
• Maintains positive customer service relationships and addresses service issues.
• Processes pathology specimens as appropriate.
• Trains staff as required.
• Adapts to flexible hours to meet department needs.
• Communicates effectively with team members and patients.
