Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant who will handle specimen receiving, processing, and registration tasks in a fast-paced hospital lab.

You will enter orders, label samples, centrifuge, and deliver to test sites while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Responsibilities include supporting patient registration, adhering to reimbursement requirements, and ensuring compliant handling of specimens.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of laboratory or patient care experience.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.

Responsibilities

• Provides support in patient registration and third-party reimbursement requirements.
• Maintains department supplies and customer supply orders.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Operates hospital information systems, including downtime functions, processing, transportation, billing, reference testing and scheduling.
• Maintains positive customer service relationships and responds to inquiries.
• Processes pathology specimens as appropriate.
• Trains staff as required.
• Ability to work flexible hours to meet department needs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with team members and answer calls.
• Assists with cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Follows policies to meet regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Maintains attendance in line with policy and standards.
• Keeps confidentiality of patient records and department matters.
