Job summary

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in Saint Petersburg, FL is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to perform specimen receiving and processing, register patients, and enter orders in the computer system. You will centrifuge samples, label and aliquot, and deliver to the test site on a 2nd shift.

This patient-facing clinical role requires knowledge of specimen collection, handling, and hospital information systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Two years of laboratory experience or patient care experience.
• Phlebotomy certification, training, or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and assist with third party reimbursement requirements.
• Process and handle specimens, including centrifuging, labeling and aliquoting.
• Maintain department supplies and support billing, reference testing and scheduling.
• Demonstrate knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Train staff as required and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
