Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to join the ORMC Core Laboratory. You will support diagnostic services and patient care by handling specimens and assisting with registration and testing workflows.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, and high safety standards. Candidates with a High School diploma and lab experience are encouraged to apply; some education may substitute for experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of laboratory or patient care experience preferred.
• Current students may substitute education for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, label, and prepare specimens for testing.
• Register patients and enter laboratory orders accurately.
• Demonstrate knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Process pathology specimens and maintain specimen integrity.
• Support patient registration and reimbursement requirements.
• Assist with laboratory quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Provide outstanding customer service to patients and team members.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
• Assist with report distribution, filing, scheduling, and laboratory operations.
• Perform phlebotomy as needed (with approved competency).
