Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen receiving, processing and patient registration. You will enter orders, centrifuge, label and aliquot samples, and deliver to test sites while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to safety, and flexibility to work varied shifts. Two years of laboratory or patient care experience are preferred, with a high school diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Two years of laboratory experience or patient care experience.
• Current student pursuing higher education in science may substitute for up to two years of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides support in patient registration and third party reimbursement requirements.
• Maintains department supplies and customer supply orders.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Operates hospital/lab information systems and downtime functions.
• Maintains positive customer service relationships and responds to inquiries.
• Processes pathology specimens as appropriate.
• Trains staff as required.
• Adheres to infection control and safety practices.
