Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Laboratory Associate role to support patient care by organizing specimens, processing orders, and coordinating with doctors and nurses. This position focuses on learning the lab workflow, handling samples, and ensuring accurate delivery to testing facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Community college program, nursing or EMT student in progress.
• Preferred: healthcare/clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes EMR/LIS to place orders, receive and route specimens, track specimens, label specimens, and query results.
• Provides clerical, administrative, and customer service support to the department.
• Answers phones and provides information to nursing staff, physicians, couriers and patients.
• Dispatches couriers as required.
• Communicates test results to nursing units and physician offices, electronically or on paper.
• Monitors and maintains supply inventory and assists training of new associates.
