Job summary

Johnson County Government is seeking an Overnight 988 Clinician/Shift Lead to join the 988 Crisis Team, delivering mental health crisis support by phone. The role operates within the Johnson County Communication Center, collaborating with first responders to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Three 12‑hour shifts weekly with one additional 8‑hour shift every other weekend; Shift Lead adds up to 5% lead pay, with licensure requirements and a strong emphasis on team guidance and quality service.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure at the master’s level.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Licensure requirements may be met by time of offer.

Responsibilities

• Answers 24-hour crisis calls, chats and texts with empathic support.
• Triage for suicide risk and coordinate care for citizens and agencies.
• Oversees outcome documentation and data collection for program goals.
• Provides clinical guidance to 988 Crisis Call Specialists.
