Job summary

River City Construction is seeking an experienced Overhead 1st Class worker to support construction and maintenance of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role requires travel to multiple locations and may include out-of-state assignments.

This on-site, safety-sensitive position offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for overtime. You will lead, set poles, install transformers and equipment, troubleshoot energized systems, and ensure grounded procedures and PPE

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of recent field experience.
• Lift more than 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of inspecting rubber goods and PPE.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.
• Willingness to glove/work live high voltage power lines.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot trouble in primary and secondary systems.
• Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
• Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect lives.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Can identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
• Must be familiar with induced voltage.
• Understand grounding procedures.
• Work at heights or confined spaces.
• Install and remove PPE and cover up.
• Must be able to climb different types of structures and have the necessary tools to do so.
• Must understand how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
• Plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
• Understand how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
• Can conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.
• Can safely perform a reconductoring job.
• Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers.
• Understand how to use a load bust tool.
• Does all other related work to complete the job.
• Can work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.
