Job summary

XKIG in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Groundman - Overhead to support our Operations team on-site. You will assist line crews in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems, work at heights, and follow safety rules as storms arise.

The role requires a four 10-hour day schedule, travel as needed, ability to lift 50+ lbs, and willingness to work overtime. This safety-sensitive position includes background checks and a drug screen, with full-time benefits and on-site

Qualifications

• Must have Valid Driver's License.
• Able to travel long distances at short notice.
• Work for extended periods in multiple locations.
• Able to lift an excess of 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.
• Safety sensitive position requiring background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist fellow line-workers in meeting project goals.
• Join storm restoration efforts in times of need.
• Follow company safety rules while performing energized or de-energized overhead work.
• Inspect PPE and wear it properly.
• String overhead wire, set poles and anchors.
• Help install transformers and related components.
• Maintain and operate company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Perform rigging, knot tying, and climb-related tasks.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces.
