Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk is seeking an Outside Scheduler to join our cancer care team. This full-time role schedules referrals, handles outside testing, and coordinates appointments, with benefits including M/D/V, Life Insurance, and a 401(k).

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, several years of medical office experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years medical office experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Schedules physician referrals and/or outside testing and labs as directed by physician.
  • Obtains necessary insurance authorization.
  • Communicates to patients the type of test, any necessary prep, and date/time/location of appointment.
  • Follows up on all tests to ensure completion prior to next visit with physician.
  • Researches and responds to routine and non-routine inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has multiple exciting opportunities for an Outside Scheduler for our office in Norfolk.

Job Details

Employment Type: Full-Time

Benefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k)

Compensation Range: $18.75/hr - $22.16/hr

Responsibilities
  • Schedules physician referrals and/or outside testing and labs as directed by physician
  • Obtains necessary insurance authorization

Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
