Job description

Outside Sales Representative - Law Enforcement Upfit & Technology

You’ll:

  • Build relationships with law enforcement agencies, public safety departments, and municipal customers throughout your territory.
  • Develop new business and build MacQueen’s customer presence throughout the territory
  • Meet with customers to understand their fleet, equipment, technology, and upfitting needs.
  • Demonstrate in-vehicle technology, equipment configurations, and upfitting solutions.
  • Prepare quotes, follow up on opportunities, and help customers navigate the purchasing process.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, demonstrations, and public safety events.

  • Partner closely with our upfitting, technical, and operations teams to make sure what was promised gets delivered.
Make the Territory Yours

This is an opportunity to step into a developing territory with plenty of room to grow . Rather than inheriting a book of business and simply maintaining it, you'll have the chance to build relationships, establish MacQueen's presence, and shape how the territory develops.

You’ll be responsible for opening doors and creating new opportunities, but you won't be doing it alone. You'll have the backing of MacQueen's established reputation, experienced upfitting and technical teams, and a growing public safety business behind you.

If you're energized by building something, developing relationships from the ground up, and being able to look back and say, \"I built that territory,\" this could be a great fit.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who knows how to build a territory—not just work a lead list.

You’ll probably be a great fit if you:

  • Have at least 2 years of outside sales experience with a track record of developing relationships and growing accounts.
  • Are comfortable walking into a department, introducing yourself, asking good questions, and starting a conversation.
  • Enjoy learning technical products and figuring out how they solve a customer's problem.
  • Can manage your own schedule, territory, follow-ups, and priorities without someone constantly checking in.
  • Communicate well with everyone from technicians and end users to chiefs, command staff, and municipal decision-makers.
  • Are comfortable presenting, negotiating, and asking for the business.
  • Know your way around Microsoft Office and are comfortable working in a CRM.
  • Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Are comfortable traveling throughout your territory, including overnight travel when needed.

Experience selling equipment, vehicles, technology, industrial products, or other technical solutions is a plus. Experience in law enforcement or public safety is great, but it isn't required.

Why MacQueen?

For more than 60 years, MacQueen has supported the people and organizations that keep communities running and protected.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to represent a growing part of our business, work with some seriously cool equipment, and build long-term customer relationships in a territory you can make your own.

You'll have the backing of experienced upfitting technicians, operations teams, and industry experts—so while you'll own the customer relationship, you won't be doing it alone.

Your experience has value. We pay accordingly. Compensation is based on the experience, qualifications, and skillset you bring to the role, along with the applicable sales incentive opportunity.

Your results should show up in your paycheck.

This role offers a $65,000 base salary plus commission , with commission earned at 3% of gross profit on eligible sales after applicable product/project costs (COGS) are applied.

In addition to your compensation, MacQueen offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you both at work and outside of it, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Company-paid and voluntary insurance benefits
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Mileage reimbursement/company vehicle program, as applicable
  • Company-provided tools and technology needed to manage your territory

You’ll have the stability of a base salary, the opportunity to increase your earnings through sales performance, and the benefits and support of an established organization behind you.

Ready to get out in the territory and build something?

We'd like to talk.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position involves frequent travel throughout an assigned territory and a combination of driving, customer-site visits, office work, and product demonstrations. The role may require:

  • Frequently sitting for extended periods while driving or traveling and using a computer or mobile device to perform job responsibilities.
  • Regularly standing, walking, bending, reaching, and getting in and out of vehicles throughout the workday.
  • Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving products, demonstration materials, or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Visiting customer, shop, service, municipal, and event locations with potential exposure to moving vehicles, mechanical equipment, noise, and other typical operational hazards.
  • Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions while traveling or visiting customer locations.
  • Frequent travel by vehicle throughout the assigned territory, up to 50% overnights and air travel as business needs require.
