Job summary

USVETS Inglewood seeks an Outreach Specialist to connect veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk with housing and comprehensive support services. You will visit shelters and service sites, maintain referrals, and coordinate transportation to program events to strengthen access to critical resources.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, teamwork, and clear communication to help veterans achieve independence and stability through housing, healing, and hope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or the veteran population.
  • One year of experience in social services (employment at U.S. VETS for at least six months may substitute for one year of experience).
  • Strong oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Publicize U.S. VETS services by visiting shelters, treatment programs, transitional housing, soup kitchens, and other locations where people experiencing homelessness may congregate.
  • Maintain a database of client information and referrals to track veterans and schedule screening appointments.
  • Coordinate transportation for veterans to U.S. VETS sites and program events.
  • Collaborate with external service providers to ensure timely collection of required paperwork for client files.
  • Produce weekly reports of veterans encountered by the outreach team.
  • Attend weekly outreach meetings and participate in team activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
