Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in social services or a related field required (three months may substitute for one year).
  • Strong oral, written and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact: conduct screenings and assessments to determine eligibility.
  • Guide clients through intake: complete intake packets and enter information into program databases.
  • Support program orientation: conduct individual or group orientations to explain guidelines and services.
  • Keep records organized: maintain client data in systems such as MyCaseRecords (MCR) and HMIS.
  • Ensure smooth coordination: work with case managers and housing/outreach staff to track services and outcomes.
  • Assist with reporting: help compile information for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

This is an ideal role for someone who is highly organized, enjoys working with people, and wants to be the welcoming face that helps veterans take the first step toward housing, stability, and wellness.As an Intake Specialist, you’ll guide veterans and their families through the intake and eligibility process, ensuring they feel supported from the moment they enter our programs. You’ll work closely with case managers, housing specialists, and program leadership to make sure veterans are quickly connected to the services and resources they need.What You’ll DoBe the First Point of Contact: Conduct screenings and assessments to determine program eligibility and assist veterans with enrollment.Guide Clients Through Intake: Complete intake packets, enter information into program databases, and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.Support Program Orientation: Conduct individual or group orientations so veterans understand program guidelines and available services.Keep Records Organized: Enter and maintain client data in systems such as MyCaseRecords (MCR) and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).Ensure Smooth Coordination: Work with case managers, housing/outreach specialists, and program coordinators to track services and outcomes.Assist With Reporting: Help compile information for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.Provide Program Support: Assist with aftercare follow-up, maintain archived files, and support the team with program supplies and special projects.Track Temporary Financial Assistance for clients in SSVF or GPD Transitional Housing programs.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in social services field or a related field, preferredOne year of experience in social services or related field required. Employment at U.S.VETS for at least three months may substitute for one year of experienceExperience working with homeless and/or veterans preferredStrong oral, written and communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to work within a teamComputer proficient in Microsoft Office and InternetDetail oriented with effective organization skillsValid driver’s license is required. Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course
