Job Description
Job Summary:

The Outreach and Special Projects Coordinator assumes a key supportrole for all departmental community outreach efforts. They also support a range of special projects and events to bring keystakeholders together to promote civic engagement work at HarvardCollege through residential engagement and supporting a wide rangeof campus civic visibility efforts and campus engagementactivities

Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Community Outreach
  • Oversees production of the Public Service Weekly newsletterduring the fall and spring semesters.
  • Works with several campus offices to generate social mediacontent and connects with a variety of key stakeholders acrosscampus and in the community.
  • Develops content for promotional materials, annual reports, andprogram directories. They are specifically responsible fordeveloping content for the department’s annual report and publicservice directory.
Special Projects
  • Works in collaboration with Public Service Tutors, proctors,faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to support specialprogramming for the department
  • Support for events includes conferences, speaker events,residential activities, community-building activities, along withdays of service
  • This role will provide additional support to student leaders andsupport several major departmental activities including boardmeetings and conferences
  • Reviews grant applications, serves on selection committees,supports advisory boards, and represents the department at campusfunctions and community meetings as needed
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of community engagement work experience in anacademic or non-profit environment
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability tonavigate complex situations effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to buildrelationships with a diverse range of stakeholders andconstituencies.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with theability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive relationships with a highdegree of professionalism, discretion, and attention todetail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, particularly inorganizing student programs, activities, and events.
  • Knowledge of the public service landscape at Harvard College ispreferred.
  • Experience in residential life or student residentialcommunities is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-pacedenvironment while maintaining a high standard of service andsupport.

  • Other Information: The work schedule and location willbe set by the department at its discretion and based uponoperational needs and objectives and consistent with CollegePolicy, which requires 5 days on-site in Cambridge, MAduring term time (first day of classes through commencement), withthe exception of winter break in December, spring break in March,and the summer months when students are away from campus, wherestaff is expected be on campus two days a week. When notworking at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees inhybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state incompliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts .Additional details about the College policy will be discussedduring the interview process. Certain visa types and fundingsources may limit work location. Individuals must meet worklocation sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
