Job summary

Job Summary:

Lead the delivery of academic affairs operations including facultysupport, curriculum management and training.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:
  • Faculty Recruitment and Course Development: Establish andmaintain relationships with academic departments, recruit faculty,and meet with faculty members expressing interest in teachingengaged scholarship courses and courses for the College’sCertificate for Civic Engagement. Work with staff and studentleaders of public service offices and organizations to leverageexisting public service programs and community relationships toexperiential course components whenever possible. Oversee thedistribution of funds to faculty to develop new courses.
  • Support for Faculty and Teaching Staff : Support facultyteaching courses in Mindich courses and other engaged scholarshipthrough regular convening of faculty and TFs for practical coursesupport and to create a community of practice for engagedscholarship and civic/experiential learning.
  • Student Advisory Committee : Oversee the undergraduateStudent Advisory Committee for engaged scholarship. Advise studentson engaged scholarship opportunities.
  • Program promotion and assessment . Develop and updatewritten and online materials promoting opportunities in the Programin Engagement Scholarship. Maintain an updated list of engagedscholarship courses and promote these opportunities to students.Develop and update evaluation metrics, collect data and communicatethis information in reports and promotional materials.
  • Certificate for Civic Engagement : Support the Certificatefor Civic Engagement and participate in the OUE oversightcommittee.
  • Experiential Learning: Work with the OUE to support newopportunities for civic engagement and experiential learning,including climate education.
  • OUE initiatives : Working with the Senior Assistant Deanfor Undergraduate Education, Curriculum and Special Programs,participate in and support academic programs and policy initiativesin the Office of Undergraduate Education.
Working Conditions:

The work schedule and location will be set by the department at itsdiscretion and based upon operational needs and objectives andconsistent with College Policy, which requires 5 days on-site inCambridge, MA during term time (first day of classes throughcommencement), with the exception of student breaks. When notworking at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees inhybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state incompliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts .Additional details about the College policy will be discussedduring the interview process. Certain visa types and fundingsources may limit work location. Individuals must meet worklocation sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting using near vision use for reading and computer use forextended periods of time
  • Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and otherphysical exertion
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with abroad range of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff,and senior leadership.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the liberal arts and sciencescurriculum in order to leverage existing opportunities and createnew opportunities for experiential learning, broadlyconceived.
  • Collaborative work style.
  • Knowledge of Harvard technology and data systems and ability tosuggest and promote necessary changes.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum and ongoing curricular changes inHarvard College.
  • Background and work experience in faculty development andtraining, including pedagogy training.
